There are a bunch of differences! Most satellite packages provide only small amounts of data for a high monthly price. We can typically offer 4-5 times the amount of data at the same price point or less! Satellite also has incredibly high lag times (latency or ping) when connecting to outside networks. This is why gaming or VPNs cannot be used over satellite internet connections.
In most cases yes! If you are connected to our tower network you will have Unlimited Data. If you are connected to one of our partner networks your service will have data caps however, these data allotments are incredibly high. We offer up to 1Tb (1000Gb) on our partner networks.
Throttling is when your ISP hard caps your speeds after certain usage amounts. For example, with most satellite internet systems you will receive 25-100Gb of data and speeds will be throttled to dial up speeds after you hit this usage amount. Prioritization is when you hit a certain data amount and your internet provider decreases speeds to give everyone fair access to reasonable speeds unless extreme congestion occurs.
This service is based on a wireless LTE connection, therefore speeds vary based on network coverage, tower proximity, and network traffic. While we don’t guarantee speeds, we can check the different network parameters for your service address to estimate the service quality prior to you placing your order. Home installation services are available in Washington, Oregon, Iowa and Nebraska. All other areas we service with self installation kits or plug and play modems.
